10 CAR SAFETY TIPS TO SHARE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS
BE SURE TO PASS ON THESE AWESOME TIPS TO EVERYONE THAT LEAVES YOUR LOT!
1. Clear ALL The Snow From Your Vehicle
During or after a winter snow, don’t just clear the snow from your windshield. Make sure that you clean off all windows for better visibility. In addition, clear snow from your mirrors, both headlights and taillights as well as your license plate. Don't forget to clear the backup camera if you have one.
If there happens to be substantial snow on your car, also clean off your hood – there could be blow-back of snow onto the windshield as you drive. In addition, clear the snow from the roof of your car since it could slide off impairing your ability to see... or even flip off and blow into a vehicle that might be following you.
2. Don't Be Fuelish
Always turn your vehicle off when filling up with gas. Accidental ignition of fuel fumes during the fueling process can occur. There are fumes from the fuel being pumped which can accumulate on the ground as well as gas fumes that are displaced from your tank as you add fuel. Just because you have done it before and not had a tragic incident certainly does not mean it cannot or will not happen in the future.
3. Use The Right Car Seat
The single most important responsibility that you have as a parent is keeping your child safe. This is especially true when you transport them in your vehicle. ALWAYS secure your child properly in an appropriate car seat when transporting them in any vehicle. Each year, thousands of young children are killed or injured in car crashes. The proper use of car seats help to keep children safe. For information on choosing the appropriate seat for your child, visit

4. Secure The Booster Seat
Unoccupied child booster seats can become projectiles in an auto accident. When they are not being used make certain that the seat is still securely belted in.
5. Driving Buzzed Is Driving Drunk
The National Safety Council reports that about every 30 minutes someone is killed in an alcohol-related crash in the United States. Every two minutes, someone is injured. Never drive when you're buzzed or high. Always take a taxi or arrange for alternate transportation.
6. Put Down The Phone And Drive
Many experts believe that texting and driving will become even more dangerous than drinking and driving. In fact, while casualties from drinking and driving are on the decline, casualties and injuries from texting and driving are escalating quickly. The average text takes 5 seconds to send. Looking down and sending an average text is like driving the length of a football field at 55 miles per hour… with your eyes closed. Do you see that 3,000 pound "tackle" coming at you?
7. Lock The Hatch
Keep your car’s trunk and/or your back hatch locked (or at least secure) at all times. This may aid in preventing an unwanted stranger from getting into your car.
8. Don't Drive When You're Tired
Always pull over when you are driving and become drowsy or feel as though you might drift off to sleep. Accidents in these circumstances are very common and very dangerous.
9. Late Night and Cruise Control Don't Mix
Do not leave your car in cruise control when driving late at night or when you’re fatigued. Falling asleep with your cruise control on could result in a crash at the speed in which your car was traveling when you fell asleep.
10. Check The Auto-Reverse
Test your garage door’s reverse sensor regularly. If there is any problem with the door not reversing when its sensor beam is crossed, contact a garage door repair service immediately. Many people have been injured or even killed by broken or faulty garage doors.
